COUNTDOWN TO THE 2012 GAMES

Are you a business association or support organisation?

BCHF (UK)

BCHF, a City of London based firm with clients throughout the UK and Europe, was awarded a contract through the CompeteFor online procurement portal to provide crowd modelling services to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

Olympic Park bridgeCalum Nicholson, Head of Transportation, was initially attracted to CompeteFor because of the wide range of London 2012 opportunities advertised on the free portal, all of which could be accessed by a single registration process.

‘Registration was very simple,’ Calum explains, ‘especially when compared to procurement websites I have used in the past.  Once we had completed our business profile, we began receiving email alerts. That’s how we found out about the opportunity to supply LOCOG. CompeteFor also allowed us to track the contract, which meant we were notified throughout the process of upcoming deadlines and any changes to the contract.’

“Because the contract involves liaising with so many other organisations including Transport for London and other commercial suppliers, it has also presented a great networking opportunity”

BCHF now provides crowd modelling services for London 2012’s temporary venues across London, including ExCeL, Horse Guards Parade, Greenwich Park, Earls Court and Wimbledon. Their scope of works includes anticipating how spectators will access the venues and circulate within them, with a particular focus on  temporary infrastructure, security and transport, and proposing solutions so that audiences experience the perfect balance between safety, comfort and atmosphere while at Games events.

Calum says, ‘The contract with LOCOG has been a great opportunity for us. The tendering process was quite competitive, so it’s already boosted our credibility within the industry. Because the contract involves liaising with so many other organisations including Transport for London, the Olympic Delivery Authority and other commercial suppliers, it has also presented a great networking opportunity. CompeteFor has proven to be a very useful business development tool for us.’
