Runners ready for start of race

CompeteFor Update

Over 260 contracts have been awarded through CompeteFor since our last newsletter with 44% of these going to business based in London.

LOCOG has updated its procurement schedule with many new opportunities in events, sports medical supplies, technology and venues and infrastructure scheduled before March 2011.

Crossrail also recently published how it will use CompeteFor to establish an informed, visible and efficient supply chain.

London 2012 merchandise: cups and saucers

Business News

Since our last newsletter, the London Business Network has published information on two indirect opportunities for businesses to get involved with the 2012 Games.

Tower Hamlets College is offering businesses the chance to win £5000 in business support, while Smart Green Business is helping SMEs reduce environmental costs.

We also feature two ways for organisations to get involved in supporting athletes ahead of the 2012 Games through SportsAid and Our Team 2012.

London 2012 News

In July, London 2012 celebrated two years to go until Games time. Work on all major venues is expected to be completed on time next year. Already the Basketball Arena is being prepared for seat installation, water has started flowing in the Canoe Slalom park and  wildflower landscaping is blooming around the Olympic Stadium.

LOCOG has begun its search for the team that will design, engineer and manufacture the Olympic and Paralympic Torches. They also have published plans on transportation provisions during the Games, including details of the Olympic Route Network.
